WIP // Tokidoki Barbie

Here is my next WIP! I <3 tokidoki and the sims so I decided to make a simified version of tokidoki barbie circa 2011.

I'm working on her shirt and skirt atm, but will hopefully be able to make most of her outfit, accessories and tattoos, as well.

Did you see a/o buy any of the collectable tokidoki barbies? I always saw them a little too late, but now we can have them in the sims, regardless! On that note, I'll be working on the other tokidoki barbies in the near future

 

The graphics are my own fanart phone doodles. It's a little more of a sketch look than the actual tokidoki heart + crossbones, but I kinda like it.

Of Life and Pixels // Spring and Summer Tee Collections

I'm excited to share my first CC project for the Sims 4! It's been a long time coming, but it's finally here. I wanted to start simple for my debut TS4 CC collection, so this seemed like the perfect project.

Have you ever wished that there were more swatches for this BG tee? Same! So I decided to make some for the spring/summer season. I've found myself always using the same few colour swatches, time and again. I decided to make some pretty spring colours and neutrals, as well as some cool summer pattern swatches (which were really fun to paint lol. The first group are tie-dye and the second are something like Ikat design).

Side Note: This is my first CC project since 2007... has it really been 15 years?!? That's hard to believe. But all we can do is keep moving forward! <3

 

I used to create CC for ts2, but I've taken a really long hiatus (obviously, lol). I'm excited to be creating again and learning new things. The ts2 CC that I made was more Alpha because that was how I learned, but I decided to lean more toward Maxis Match this time around - digitally hand painting the texutres, etc.

LS CC - WIP!

 

I'm excited to share [a WIP of] my first CC project for the Sims 4! It's been a long time coming and I can't wait to have it finished and posted.

Wrapping Up with a Holiday Lookbook

Hello again. I've had to take a bit of a break once more. This time it was due to a medical emergency - namely, a Pulmonary Embolism. I won't go into great detail, but basically that is when a blood clot travels to your lung(s) and needs to be treated either with blood thinners or surgery. I'm on blood thinners for the next six months... and then, I don't know. But until then, I'm just trying to get back to normalcy as much as possible. 

I've been able to play the Sims in my free time, but I haven't resumed creating any content yet. I still plan to finish some of my smaller projects like my latest lookbook and perhaps sharing some Sims that I've been working on over the last few months.

I know these projects may seem small or insignificant, but they mean a lot to me right now, since I've struggled so much this year and this has been something that I could focus on to keep my mind off of the more stressful, serious life stuff. I tend to get discouraged about my creative projects and sharing what I'm working on because it's hard for me to get back to life in between the doctor appointments and health issues. Sometimes I feel like I'm just existing, rather than truly living.

I hope that I'll be able to finish a few projects this time around and share some new things from my little corner of the Simsverse. Welcome, if you're new and thanks for checking out my content!

80s Teen Bella Goth

So. Update. 2021 has been, personally, an even more difficult year for me than 2020. I have dealt with injury and recovery - all on top of existing disability. I'm not saying that to complain or garner sympathy, but to simply explain why there have been more delays to my website, creative endeavours, etc. I don't have much of a following at the moment, which is fine since I am struggling to keep up as of yet, anyway. My "reach" isn't top priority for me because I share my content from a place of creative expression and love for design and art. I appreciate anyone who is interested, but it doesn't drive my creative process.

Side Note: If you create Sims content as a job, that's completely valid and I'm not discrediting that avenue. I'm simply explaining my experience with my own content and how I would like to keep it as a hobby/creative expression, personally. I'm completely impressed by the content that has come from the creative people who have made Sims content a full-time job

 

I've recently been able to return to playing the Sims, which has been a refreshing relief in this dreary year. I have missed it, immensely. It's always been a happy place and special interest of mine. I decided to start out just playing Vanilla, since I felt that would be less overwhelming right now. I love CC, obviously, but I'll return to that in time. In the meantime, I've been happily building, creating sims and playing.

 

The first creative thing I've done outside of the game is to make a noCC 80s Teenage Bella Goth inspired by Remi Marocelli's Bella Goth: Reborn series on YouTube. If you haven't checked it out yet, I highly recommend it. Here is a link to his YouTube channel: lReMi07l.

P.S.: In my imagination, Bella loved vibrant and neon colors - pink, purple, blue, green - with a white accent as a teen in the 80s. Her love for red and black came later as the years went on and her tastes changed and matured. This version of teen Bella is playful and whimsical, while adult Bella is elegant and sophisticated

New CC Coming in 2021?

 

Lately, I feel like I'm just posting updates to explain why I keep delaying the launch of my website (and let's be honest, right now this acts pretty much as my journal because I'm likely the only person who actually sees this blog), but I like to document things so I suppose that counts for something.

We're already in December of 2020 and needless to say, I won't be launching my website this year. I probably don't need to explain why, it's 2020 after all, but I just want to briefly mention my plan for next year.

Side Note: My hiatus from CC creation began in 2008 and I've stalled resuming it since 2016 when I started redesigning my website. At this rate I won't have a single CC creation until 2024.

 

Hmm... how about I don't do that? lol. So I've decided that the progress of my website won't determine whether or not I create. The website is a project that I haven't been able to devote enough steady time to yet and it will eventually be finished, it's just a little up in the air, currently.

 

So, I might as well start designing some CC in the new year, which I will post on my blog for the foreseeable future. This will be good for two reasons:

 

1. I'll be able to start with small CC projects to get back into creating CC and learning new software (which will enable me to plan a bigger, more exciting CC project to coincide with my website launch) 
2. I'll be able to start creating and sharing my new CC sooner instead of waiting for another project to be ready in order to start.

 

My website is still important to me, but I'm glad that I've shifted my priorities a little in order to return to creating first.

80s/90s Nostalgia

Some thoughts on design direction for Of Life and Pixels...

I've been thinking about adding some 80s/90s flair to Of Life and Pixels. It's funny how the styles you grew up with seem kinda - ew - for most of your life until you hit your 30s and then the nostalgia hits hard. Haha.

The designs will probably be subtle, like maybe some old school / analog doodles and geometric shapes here and there. Right now, my color palette is more pastel, but I'm thinking of changing up the tones a bit and maybe I can work some neon in for some vibrant flair.

I'm also considering making some 80s/90s CC for our Sims. It's all still in the planning stages, but I think it will be fun to bring some old styles, designs, and characters into the modern age in my own little way.

Some of my retro inspiration will come from Lisa Frank (I lived in a Lisa Frank world), Josie and the Pussycats, Jem and the Holograms, My Little Pony, Barbie and things like neon colors, scrunchies, animal print, records, mix tapes, rollerskates, etc.
